BancBoston Robertson Stephens Initiates Coverage of BRCM with a Buy Rating

July 28, 1999 10:09 AM
SAN FRANCISCO, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by BancBoston Robertson Stephens, a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, CRD number 41271:

BancBoston Robertson Stephens vice president and senior communication and semiconductor analyst Arun Veerappan today initiated coverage of Broadcom Corp. BRCM with a Buy rating. The company, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., is a developer of integrated-silicon solutions that enable broadband-data transmission to and within residences and enterprises over existing infrastructure.

"We are initiating coverage of Broadcom with a Buy rating," said Veerappan. "In our view, Broadcom has the dominant-market position in each of its three-main-business segments: Cable, Networking and Set-Top Box. In addition, we see opportunities for growth from the company's new business acquisitions, specifically Epigram and Maverick.

"Given Broadcom's solid-technology positioning, we believe the company can continue to outgrow the market over the coming years," said Veerappan. "As such, we have established calendar 1999 and calendar 2000 earnings-per-share and revenue estimates of $0.77 on $478 million in revenue and $1.10 on $725 million in revenue, respectively."
