Matt,

When I said that I felt Yahoo's content to annoyance ratio was much higher than AOL's, by using the word annoyance I was referring to any undesired exposure to extraneous commercial messages weighted by their inconvenience, as, for example, when the commercial part of the page takes so long to load that it inhibits the flow of desired content. Most of the time, I'm in image-off mode and strenuously avoid clicking on anything that appears to be an ad. When I was on America Off-line, I recall that the CD loaded alot of these images on to my harddrive so that they would load quickly and automatically, so I had less choice about being exposed to them. Also, I think AOL uses ads alot more aggressively than Yahoo. Using AOL I had the constant feeling that they were trying to sell me things. I relished the AOL experience with the same feeling as I get when I see e-mail laced with more and more junk mail.
