Thanks Bill. I need some psychological shoring up on the Jaz front.

>I think you've sorely misjudged the importance of Jaz.<
Perhaps, I admit I don't know much about how Jaz fits in to the IOM business plan. I just see too much stiff competition in the high end disk market. Zip can afford to stay 100MB a lot longer than Jaz can afford to stay 1GB, IMO.

>Jaz is the key to the "sealed PC". Think consumer, not engineer here. The vast majority of PC owners regard installing a new hard drive with the same enthusiasm you'd likely muster for the notion of pulling and replacing your car's engine. With Jaz, adding additional hard drive space is as simple as putting a new tape in a VCR and once the right price points are hit will be universally accepted.<
I must not have made myself clear. I too am tired of digging into my machine to make hardware upgrades. I think removable's should and possibly will completely replace non-removable media. But isn't Rocket going to be removable too? And it's first incarnation will hold 4GB?

> When Jaz was originally introduced, IOM stated that it would eventually reach 5Gb per cartridge. <
Now we're talking! This is GRRRREAT! Tell me where to find that statement, please. And a ballpark estimate of when it will happen. If IOM doesn't answer Rocket, it will blow Jaz out of the water within a year of it's release, IMHO. And the time to answer is June Comdex. No IOM presence at Comdex bothers me a lot, but I am taking the word of Mr. IOMEGA in the following post:
