Very plausible observations and, in fact, it is just such short sightedness that I believe Zeev observes as well. There is a focus on the balance of trade accounts to the point of being monomaniacal about it all. Almost as if somehow by concentrating on the outflow or "ebb", their society can avoid the incoming tide that brings, in their minds, cultural and fiscal flotsam.
