" instead of capitalizing on the fundamental good will towards us that the rest of the world felt after 9.11" This can't be emphasized STRONGLY enough. The right leadership could have changed the world for the better at that juncture. We could have formed effective, permanent international intelligence/police/paramilitary organizations to mount operations to crush terrorism world wide with a vast voluntary consensus of nations participating, including Arab nations. Bush used it to play at "War President", reward war-profiteer cronys and go after oil. What a waste.
