>In America, all men are created equal. Under this belief, how can the US support a Jewish state??
In the same way probably half of our country supports the U.S. being a Christian one.
Ideally, I'd prefer not to have any countries in the world established to support a particular religion, and thus I'd support the dismantling of Israel as a Jewish state. However, the fact is that there are MANY countries in the world that do support a particular religion... 58 Muslim ones, for instance, and the world hasn't made any blanket calls for the deinstitutionalization of Islam in those countries. So, if countries retain the right to support a national religion, what religion needs a state more than any at this point? Probably Judaism. The Jews have DEFINITELY overplayed the persecution card, but I can't think of a religion that's been persecuted more over the last 2000 years (maybe I'm not thinking hard enough), and I don't have a problem giving them their one little state where some of them feel safe, as long as they play fair. Problem is, as long as they retain the WB and Gaza, they're not playing fair.
