Your rhetorical question is really too vague to answer properly.

For example: "asked him questions critical to the performance of the job"

(Like WHAT? What 'questions'?)

Naturally, as with any rhetorical question, the question is not really intended to have any answer.... but, if you are asking me if I would CHOOSE to hire someone who did not strike me the right way in the interview, then obviously I would say 'no'.

Of COURSE --- with regard to the American Presidency, the American people remain TOTALLY FREE to use any criteria that they WANT TO in arriving at their personal decision as to who to vote for, and who to not vote for.

Which is exactly fine by me!

And, I think, how our founders wanted it to be.

(Now, are you going to propose that our Constitution be altered... and some new and different requirements be inserted for qualifying to run for the Presidency?)

Because if you are not... you STILL have EXACTLY AS MUCH PERSONAL LIBERTY to make *your own mind up* as to whom you want to vote for as ANY OTHER CITIZEN OF THIS GREAT LAND.

(I'm happy with that....)
