My big insight when I was young.

One of the big things that made me stop debating religion in my 20's was my belief that gods would never want to be worshiped. Enlightened beings would care nothing about that.

Who would are tribal chiefs. Replace all references to god in the bible or Koran with tribal chief and it will make perfect sense.

In the future we will stop this worshiping stuff-lol.

If you're going to worship something, the sun is as good a thing as their is. Who knows, it may contain intelligent electromagnetic patterns within itself completely beyond our understanding or detection.
