Doug I know this is not a perfect example: You have Geo Prisms and Neons with 2 airbags, power windows, ABS brakes, wipers with delay, 2 cup holders, AirCon and all "bells an whistles" for $12,000.00. No matter how many of these you sell, the sales Grand Cherokees, Blazers, 4-Runners, Explorers have never hurt a bit! (at prices of 25-40K and beyond!-Matter of fact the M-class,the Mercedes equivalent has a 1 1/2 yr waiting period!) I will reiterate this is not a perfect example but attempt to stress that cosumer behaviour cannot always be explained by prices alone. The sub 1k and "experienced" PC consumer may acually be different animals! And for whatever reason, some people actually have a Neon and Cherokee in the same driveway. I am a still a strong believer that Dell has no business joining the profitless sub 1k market slugfest. We shall soon see a lot of bruised knuckles and bruised balance sheets...remember the Yugo?.. my other cent! |
