Mike, Of course the people who served are responsible. But Roosevelt did everything in his power to overcome the isolationism of the Republicans and many of the Dems in Congress. He helped England when it was illegal to do so. And without England, we would have had no base of operations in Europe.

Russia did diddly to the Japanese and Italians. They were definitely heroic against the Germans. Of course, if they hadn't agreed to carve up Poland with the Nazis, the whole shebang may not have happened.
