This morning I perused several lefty threads, including the View from the (far left of) Center thread. The overwhelming consensus was that when they read or watched Kerry's comments they were convinced it was a joke aimed directly at Bush & in no way denigrated Bush.
And they didn't stop there. They were howling at all the RWE's who had the audacity to grossly misinterpret Kerry's comments purely for partisan gain.
Bottom line. To me, this is a prime example of the vast difference between the left & the right today.
When a lefty crosses the line most libs will either go silent or bitterly defend the offender by any means necessary. Everything from the lamest excuse to the most implausible lies will be offered with a straight face.
Few, if any wil ever stand up & openly denounce it for what it is from the very beginning. Even the most outrageous instances, such as Kerry's, will only draw a small number of libs who timidly speak out against the offender (and that had more to do with the harm it was causing during the heat of an election campaign).
These same people will hypocritically take the exact opposite approach for lesser offenses committed by conservatives. They will howl with outrage, grossly exaggerate the situation (sometimes beyond comprehension), demand the harshest punishment possible & never cut the offender any slack.
And the MSM will react the same way libs do in almost every situation.
When a conservative crosses the line, some of them will react no differently than most libs (go silent or defend the indefensible). However, a larger number will quickly evaluate the situation & take a proper stance in denouncing the offender publicly. And they will see to it (or demand) that the offender is dealt with commensurate with the offense.
Also, when a lib crosses the line, conservatives will have their fair share of folks who will react just like most libs do (over react, hypocrisy, exaggerate, etc). However, there will be a significant amount who will react properly to each situation. And another small but significant group will give the lib every benefit of doubt.
It's just another example of demonstrable disreputable behavior by the left as a group that drives me further & further away from them. |
