I wonder if Americans realize that the US has been supportive of tyrants for years. It came as real shock to me when I saw all the aid and assistance we gave Saddam in the 1980s. There needs to be an accountability so we know as citizens what the gov't is doing on our behalf. I think most US foreign aid before 1990 was designed to prevent the spread of communism, and that took precedence over whatever else it ended up supporting. Does that bother you? Do you think the US should support tyrants who torture and murder? Is torture and murder a normal part of life for you?
