He did veto many but he also tried to work with congress. His Trickle Down theory of economics, which has been called "voodoo" kicked in in late 1990 and is responsible for the tremendous growth in the economy today. If the government doesn't muck up the economy Reagan's policy will also be responsible for getting rid of the debt.
