Protest allowed
or
Plan foiled

Canadians can take solace in the fact that just being Canadian was the best defense we had.
The use of the Act only came after we got to see who was occupying Ottawa and blocking borders.
My antipathy to conservatives aside, I was impressed with Premier Ford, he did a good job.
He understood the danger to Ontario and his actions to declare an Emergency were timely.
The Emergency Act is withdrawn in Ontario now as well and it worked to clear the bridge.
My pandemic weariness is as great as anyone's, I am weary, weary of masks and weary of precautions.
I suspect that I am not the only one who is weary.

The fringe group that occupied Ottawa exploited that weariness in a cynical and assaultive manner.
The occupation of Ottawa and the social media campaign drew big crowds of weary Canadians out as cover.
If their plan had worked the imposition of the Emergency Act would have been triggered quickly.
The border blockades were to be dropped as soon as the Emergency Act went into effect.
This would leave the federal government in a precarious position of seeming to be against protestors.
The plan was foiled because we are Canadians, minority parliaments are not opportunities to seize power.
The way our system really triumphed was simply that the protestors were allowed to protest.
Their inability to understand tolerance caused the ruin of their plan to turn Canada into a theocracy.
I feel sorry for the people who heard on Facebook that the Emergency Act was not really serious.
