One thing's for certain. I wouldn't be selling advanced fighter jets and other weaponry to Pakistan. That is just plain stupid and alienates India. Also, I would back off one iota from demands that Musharraf move his country to a secular Democracy by building the institutions, such as a free media and independent judiciary and parliament. And the former is not about to stop and the latter will never happen. Its why I have a hard time buying the image that America and Elroy so badly want the world to believe. It gets harder and harder for me to say Americans are the good guys. I really think there needs to be a national discussion and referendum on this issue. To often our foreign policy is shaped by the people who are in power and not by the people for whom they represent. And the foreign policy espoused by these leaders seems to be based on equal parts paranoia and trying to benefit certain industries of their friends and supporters. Personally, I am sick of it. ted
