I've noticed strength in the week following options expiration in these type of stocks before. I don't really have a good explanation. I've thought a lot in general about correlations between stock price moves among various groups of stocks, and it is important to note that stocks that have nothing in common apart from having overlapping investors (or shorters) tend to be correlated as well.
