The September issue of Forbes has an article on NetSpeed (p. 88) with a list of companies set to dominate the ADSL market. Amati's name is the first listed since they're alphabetical.

Once you've read that, turn back to page 43 and check the box, "Building the big pipe." Now, these are numbers to make you smile!

1997 growth in high-speed households is estimated at 175%, 1998 at 220%, 1999 at 165%, 2000 at 120%, and 2001 at 55%.

Source is New Century Communications, November 1996. It doesn't say if figures are world-wide or U.S. They're probably outdated, but give us some idea of where the sector is headed.

I figure if those are U.S. numbers, the international numbers will kick in where these fall off. I'd be interested in seeing more recent and more complete projections.
