You make an excellent point. I think stalling on fuel efficiency standards is exactly why GM and other American companies made a big deal out of their fuel cell programs.

Toyota on the other hand constantly researches and develops cars and technologies that they think the customers will want. Big mindset difference.

Frankly, I don't know how GM is going to get out of their mess. They have expensive unions, pension benefit troubles (1 worker for every 2 pensioners), and a crappy product line. Good luck.
