KH:Great response Kevin. You saved me some typing. NSCP has had plenty of opportunity to distribute their software. I have downloaded and used NSCP software since their browser was 1st available to the Mac. At the same time I downloaded but did not use the MSFT offering until I went to the Mac 4.5 version. Finally I switched to the PC because Mac had so discouraged third party writers that I was unable to find a streaming quotes piece of software that was usable on a Mac platform. This gives rise to another fallacy - that being that Java is universal. Unless the client app. is written the resident code on the server is useless. Also if NSCP was so desperate they could have done the AOL bit and sent themm through the mail. I guess MSFT has to make up for NSCP's lack of imagination or provide NSCP with a free ride on their O/S CD. This whole thing is pathetic and reflects the increasing encroachment of gov't. into business. regarding slowing cpu sales it would appear that IDC doesn't agree. See below. JFD FRAMINGHAM, Mass. The research company's data shows that unit volume in the second quarter will decline slightly -- by 2.3 percent -- from a stronger-than-expected first quarter. But strong global consumer demand, led by the surging Japanese market and healthy U.S. buying, will continue to drive growth in the second quarter, IDC reported.
