James, Looks like the earnings estimate numbers on Zacks were revised today. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the earnings estimates were $0.9 for Q1, $0.57 for FY97, and $1.07 for FY98. Zacks now shows $0.9 for Q1, $0.53 for FY97, and $1.00 for FY98. Karen (in IR at Ampex) stated that there are no major analysts following Ampex. The (1? 3? 4?) people following Ampex are specialists who provide private reports for their specific clients. Karen does not know how they come up with their estimates since Ampex does not provide guidance or forcasts on earnings to anyone. Zacks is showing only 1 "analyst" covering the stock with a "moderate buy" and what appear to me to be downwardly revised estimates. Please confirm the info if you can.
