Here's why we are upset with the congressman's letter:

% of contribution from (renamed) American Trial Lawyers to Democrats in 2007: 95%, trending to 98% in 2008.

As the story was covered by NPR:

% of contributions from Telecom Industry to Republicans: 65%.

So, which is more imbalanced and therefore meaningful?

That would be the Trial Lawyers contribution.

Since the US has such excess switching capacity that global phone calls are routed through our switches it behooves us to take advantage of this small advantage to disrupt planned attacks on our country. I am unapologetic about these intercepts.
