Joey and All,

Here's another thought.

Intel may have finally decided that they would have to take their medicine and reduce production of non-MMX processors, in order to accelerate the transition to MMX and/or to .25 micron. Thus, they now KNOW their sales will be lower this quarter, because they aren't going to produce all the processors that they formerly had planned upon.

[The slowdown in Europe, though real, probably simply convinced them that now was the time to bite the bullet.]

This could account for why Intel changed its "prediction" for the quarter, when it need not have, at least not until a later point.

Anyway, if this scenario is correct, it would bode well/better for revenues and profits in later quarters than would otherwise have been the case.

Best regards,

Arno
