Hi Richard, The number I come with for book value is about $1.11.

Here's the formula and how I computed it: Total assets minus intangible assets (goodwill, patents, etc.) minus current liabilities minus any long-term liabilities. This result gets divided by the total number of shares outstanding.

So, from the 10K: (in thousands) (84492 - 32825)/46391931. See pp. f-2 and f-3 of the 10K. The 10K can be found by searching for ampex at sec.gov

Others, please critique my computation! I did not include equities which have a prior claim. Also threw out long-term liabilities (abt 914k). Definition was from Barron's Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms, p. 58.

BTW, don't be apologetic on not knowing this. I had to go and look up the formula and (beware!) I'm not at all confident that I included everything important in the calculation. It should give us a ballpark, number, though...

Hope this helps somewhat.

Best regards, RM
