Of course Microsoft is fiddling with Java. They didn't get where they are by letting other people stake out software architecture standards. I'll be interested to see how they walk the tightrope, though--introduce too many proprietary features, and the developer community will lose interest (this is true to some extent already), introduce too few and Sun retains the momentum to advance standards.

You know Microsoft's motto: "We embrace and we extend"
