There is a balance between public and private that works really well.

And that balance is at a lower level of government than what we have now.

The public sector has to step in when the private sector makes an important function unaffordable and unavailable to the public.

Market failures exist (if not nearly to the extent that many claim) but that isn't always a good argument for government action. Government failure is more common.

In this case much of the problems with the market is because of existing government intervention. Doubling down on the government isn't a way out of the problem.

As for "affordable", just like much of the previous government action in this area, the PPACA increases costs. Covering more people directly increases costs, while mandating increased cost insulation for those already covered, pushes things even further towards becoming unaffordable.
