ESS did 1.7M units of VCD last Q.
Company's net earnings for the 3rd quarter primarily reflect lower than anticipated selling prices for our video CD products which were partially offset by increased shipments," said Fred Chan, chairman and chief executive officer.<i/> "As we enter the seasonally stronger part of the year, we have made the transition to newer products. For example, the Company recently announced that total shipments of its second generation video chips have passed the one million unit mark. In addition, we have received significant design wins for both PCI audio and video CD products, and we are very pleased with their acceptance in the marketplace.
Fred said increased shipments of VCD, meaning ESS did more than 1.7M units. I hope he says how many.
I looked back at last Q, thinking I had under counted VCD. VCD was 46% of revenues this Q, and a large increase over last Q.
If VCD was 42% of last Q's revenue, at a $13 ASP, it was 2.3M units. I was using 2.2M units.
If VCD was 46%(could not have been) of last Q's revenue, same ASP, it was 2.5M units.
I think Q 2 looked like this:
Cube 2.3M units
ESS 1.7M units
OAKT .25M units
Total 4.25M units
This Q:
Cube 3.4M units
ESS over 1.7 M units
OAKT .3M units (est.)
This is big. I don't know if we are seeing an earlier ramp up in VCD production than last year, or, the current sustainable production level. |
