I dont care about the surveys. In late 90's there were 4 things going on:

1) People buying systems to "dot com" their businesses
2) People buying systems to adapt to new Euro currency
3) People buying systems to cope with the mythical year 2000 catastrophe
4) Fed pumping like mad to proivide liquidity for the mythical year 2000 catastrophe

Probly gonna be yr 3000 b4 we get the convergence of such major factors to force IT spending on the scale we had before.

Businesses were formed/grown and sized themselves as if the demand increase would go on forever.

The above is all you need to know to realise that major system vendors as a whole are not going to do well for the next few years. I think Intel will outperform the group as they have a monopoly-like business. But the nas still needs cutting in half at least.
