Depends on what you are looking at. MSFT unlike Paul Allen's Vulcan ventures is not primarily concerned with being a VC firm. By example, it would make no more sense to say that MSFT is steamrolling Vulcan when it comes to software. Vulcan's primary mission statement doesn't include becoming the worlds largest software company. MSFT over the past 18 months has clearly demonstrated that it is ensuring there are channels available to use and receive MSFT content software or whatever. Be it through cable, wireless, telephone, sattelite or anyother modality; MSFT will be there.
