Harold,
I also had McAfee. I subscribed to their Viruscan online.
I daily updated new dat. files and scanned as well but was
'hammered' by the SIRCAM virus. They were the last to get a
fix and their support was terrible. I bailed on them and
downloaded Norton and have been very pleased.
I also run Aol for the family and have had it freeze up
java stuff. As thecow previously suggested, if aol is
your ISP, minimizing it after you're connected and clicking
on your Internet Explorer icon and browse with that should
help eliminate some of your problems.
