Bucking the general trend, MPV is nicely up today after two of Kaiser's Bottom Fishing Trackers (July 30th and August 3rd) in which he discusses drilling and modelling by Monopros-De Beers:

"The method Monopros favours for extracting a bulk sample will be to drill 12 inch reverse circulation holes to a depth of 400 metres. The mini bulk samples were extracted using a smaller diameter RC rig. Monopros drilled about 15 holes to a depth of 100 metres on each pipe. Vandersande's own studies indicate that the smaller diameter RC rig had a high breakage rate. Monopros is of the opinion that the larger diameter rig will have a much lower breakage rate."

"In the absence of a publicized methodology that has been scrutinized by the scientific community, securities regulators should insist that modelled values be accompanied by measured values for the diamond parcel that was used to generate the modelled values. The De Beers name is no reason a company should be allowed to rely on proprietary ("blackbox") assaying techniques."

I find that comment interesting in the contest of KRT. KRT publishes both the measured values and the modelling by Luc Rombouts which verifies the modelling done by De Beers.
