Well Gates turned out exactly like I thought he would. A mindless scumbag. We liberals were dismayed Obama appointed these right wingers and we/I met with a lot of resistance from too many Obama supporters when I and others tried to object. Gates just trashed Obama, and said Bush was the better president. I would expect virtually everyone here to think that is completely nuts and shows total mindlessness and certainly would disqualify one for Secrretary of Defence. I would hope! Gates totally trashed Biden saying he was wrong about everything. Biden has been right about most things. What pissed gates off was Biden trying to warn Obama about the military; and if there is anything we have learned about the military going back to the Viet Nam war, Cuban Missile crises and a list as long as your arm it is that you had better worry about them. It was Biden who tried to prevent that Dumb ass surge in Afghanistan. I remember the push back I got for my objections to his using Gates and especially Hagel. I got it again big time with Hagel. wait until we find out what a yokel he is. I got push back on all of Obama's bullshit appointments like Summers and Geithner too. Big time. And Rahm and on and on. Obama sure doesn't seem to read people well, or-----? These guys have not figured out something as simple as the difference between the Democratic and Republican party. Something virtually everyone on this thread has done with ease. Yet people think these same people can figure out with great sophistication and international policy. I have never seen that sort of thing to be true in my life time. And the history of the Republican party points that out in spades.
