Terayon Communication Systems (NASDAQ:TERN - news) rose $11.38, or 14%, to $94, and traded to a 52-week high of
$98.50 after reporting profitability three quarters ahead of Street expectations. The seller of cable modem systems for
broadband access reported pro forma net income of $0.04 per share. Revenue rose 200% over year-ago levels to $38.7
million. Terayon is benefiting from modem sales and its continued diversification through acquisitions from data into digital
video, telephony, network routing, and xDSL (digital subscriber lines). Timothy Long of Merrill Lynch raised his near-term
rating to “Buy” from “Accumulate” with a target price of $115 per share.
