On the other hand, you would think that you would also rail against the administration for not outing their own. The reporter and NYT are at least standing up for a principle (misguided or not); what is the White House standing for? The principle of protecting your own?

Its more than just protecting their own. They want to be able to play dirty politics when it so moves them.......which is most of the time. The kind of amoral responses you are getting indicate the standards adhered to by Rove et al are very much in keeping with the times.
