I think it would be hugely symbolic- in a way far beyond what the word "token" encompasses.

I'd love to see a "person of color", a woman or a member of some other historically challenged group get a chance at the brass ring.

But it doesn't mean we should be electing an empty suit based on his apparent skin color and without regard to his lack of experience and the poor judgment he has displayed.

To put it bluntly, we're not hiring or electing a President based on affirmative action criteria.

Obama doesn't get a better score on the exam because he checks off the half Kenyan box on the application.
