>Unph bought the ... patents.< that is what i wanted to know. up to now i thought unph was broader in product array, better organized, more concentrated in its niche, led by a great ceo. now, from what you write i would take it if an OEM needs, say, high power 1550 nm CW lasers, 1550 nm MAIM's, argon ion laser systems, HeNe (helium-neon)lasers they've GOT to buy from our guys, because all that is under patent to UNPH. they have the top passively-stabilized in-fibre Bragg gratings, but not the only Braggs, i see strong claims by SDLI there.
and UNPH's Braggs were developed by Australian Photonics CRC, from whom UNPH acquired (bought? licensed?) the technology. and Aus. Phot. CRC is not alone in in-fibre Bragg research. UNPH does have a patent pending for a holographic writing system for fabricating these Braggs,
but it does seem that the basic technology for Bragg gratings is
available to several outfits. same with the ubiquitous pump lasers.
do i have it right, Bulldozer, except for the Braggs and pumps UNPH has patent control of the lasers, modulators and systems i named above? |
