I see the thread has attracted the gang of roaming imbeciles.

Nothing new about that. You know what the problem is. Most Americans, including myself, are indoctrinated when they are growing up to believe the the U.S. is always the good guy in the world and we live in a moral and just democracy that wants to make the world a better place.

As you grow older and watch world events unfold and learn more about U.S. history, you come to see the world in a very different light then what you were brought up to believe. At this point, I see the U.S. as an amoral force in the world that is interested in furthering it's business interests above almost all other moral considerations (i.e. human rights, democracy, raising standards of living, etc.). From Iran to Chile to Guatemala to a host of other countries, the U.S. has installed and supported brutal regimes that run counter to our own values of human rights and democracy. We even supported Saddam Huessein during the 1980s. The same Saddam Huessein who they are now trying to portray as an evil dictator. He always was an evil dictator, even as we brought his oil and supplied his war machine during the 1980s.

Now this whole 9/11 thing comes along and our government's international policy that runs counter to human rights and democracy around the world is suddenly hitting home right here in the U.S. It's a hard pill for most Americans to swallow. They're either incabable of understanding the true nature of the events surrounding 9/11 or are just in denial. At least there are some concerned and thinking people left in this country that are questioning the events surround and following 9/11.
