I haven't had any problem with the fan speed on the box with the AX6B+. As with all of the fan RPM monitors, they have to be plugged into the right connector, or it's worthless. Any of the standard molex connector (4 prong for H/D's, CD-ROM's, etc.) fans won't show an RPM number anywhere, because the board doesn't know they're connected.
My advice is make sure that the CPU fan is hooked up to the CPUFAN connector on the M/B (next to the DIMM slots). Not sure if there's been a board revision since I got mine, but you can check it out at:

A BIOS upgrade might be necessary, but I would doubt it unless you have a very early release.
Another thing to remember is that some fans (especially cheap ones) will not report RPM speed to the MB even if it asks for it. Not something you should really worry about, because as long as you can see what the MB/CPU temperature is, you should be ok.
