Dear Chipguy:

We haven't seen how far AMD will take 65nm. If they get past 3GHz on 65nm, will you concede that they beat Intel again?

As to 180nm, 1733MHz Athlon XPs (180nm Palomino) kicked the crap out of 2GHz P4s (180nm Williamette) in performance in both integer and FP. Besides there was talk that the 2GHz Williamette was actually used a 155nm process (a "half" shrink). The rule of thumb back then was, at equal performance, P4 clock had to be 1.5 times that of the Athlon XP clock. 1.5 * 1.733GHz = 2.6GHz. AMD conservatively rated it at 2100+. That is a 2.1+GHz Tbird.
