My memory may have been faulty about which windows were disappearing. I got it to happen with IE6 (with Win98) yesterday by opening a ton of IE windows with other things running to stress my machine. I tried my "Move" trick to no avail. After shutting down several things, I found a tiny IE window would open in the lower right corner of my primary screen (I run with 2). Perhaps my earlier luck with Move was an accidental grab of one such window.
