OT - My 2 cents on "very" + "unique":
If you are talking about something that shares NO characteristics with anything else, then adding "very" to "unique" imparts no additional information.

If you are talking about something that shares overall design/nature with others, but those items are not identical, then they are unique...and CAN be "very unique", depending on the total number of characteristics involved.

Create 4 white identical cups and then paint one red.
The red cup is now unique, but only based on one characteristic.
Take another white cup, paint it green, glue a coaster to the bottom, gold plate the handle, attach a heater, glue pictures to it, etc, etc.
The green is now unique...AND due to 6 extra goodies, it is "very unique" compared to the average unique.

Instead of the number of characteristics, you can substitute degree. Leave the red cup white, but make it twice as big. Leave the green cup white and make it 100 times as big.

Here's the flip side: If we start with the same 4 cups and then make 10 unique changes to each of them, they are each unique cups, but NONE of them is "very unique" because the average uniqueness is 10.

Making any sense?
Got a headache yet? :)

The cups aren't really the point anyhow. Humans are.
I think this is because they clarify that "very unique" is more a measurement of emotion than anything else.
When you look at the red cup, you'll observe.
When you look at the green cup, you'll react.

Well, enough of this.
It's time for me to find my more perfect wrenches, walk down my very equal steps, and work on my somewhat complete car.
When that baby is done it will be absolutely unique!
:)

Regards & giggles,
CB.
