Data General Service and Support Organization to Provide Support For BROCADE-Labeled Switches
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Data General Corporation (NYSE: DGN) and Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (BROCADE(R)) (Nasdaq: BRCD) announced today that the two companies have entered into an OEM partnership agreement. As part of the OEM agreement, Data General will package the BROCADE SilkWorm(R) Fibre Channel fabric switches with its CLARiiON Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions. Additionally BROCADE inked a services agreement with Data General's Professional Service organization, which will become a worldwide authorized service provider for BROCADE-labeled products.

The CLARiiON SAN solutions, combined with the BROCADE fabric switches, provide Data General customers with a high-performance, scalable solution for backup and storage consolidation applications. The CLARiiON SAN solution packaged with BROCADE switches will support the Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, Hewlett-Packard HP-UX and Windows NT computing platforms.

The service agreement reinforces Data General's commitment to expanding its storage-specific services and capabilities to include a broad range of technical and consulting services that enable organizations to successfully deploy SANs in any environment. Data General will provide services through its Atlanta area-based International Call Center and through support innovations, such as its Call Home capability and remote diagnostics.
