Here is the email I received from Jill.. (reprinted withouot permission <ggg>)

WHAT A DAY!!! This is certainly the worst catastrophe we've
experienced in our two years on-line, and I assure you that
whatever trauma you are experiencing, we are experiencing
at least as much.

To those of you who wrote with your support, good humor
and complaints of severe SI withdrawals, we cannot express
to you how sorry we are. Brad and Jeff (founders of SI) have
been up all night, working as hard as possible to get us back
on-line, and I have been told that our target time is now
between 8-9 Pacific time. Your funny and supportive emails
have helped, and even brought Jeff out of a catatonic state
that we thought may be permanent.

The problem began at 3:00 a.m. this morning (Brad never sleeps,
I'm convinced). He was upgrading the system, the initial power
supply failed when re-booting the RAID system, the redundant
power supply then failed and everything has gone downhill since then.
The bright side (if there is one) is that no data has been lost
and we shouldn't suffer any long-term effects.

To those of you who wrote in angry, frustrated and with lawsuit
threats (yes, we had a few!) - we also apologize and realize
that our service has become valuable to you and we hope
to keep these problems to a minimum and always have.
We implore you to have patience, as everything in this world
(ATMs, phones, TVs, people, relationships, etc.) breaks down
at some point, and today is our day. We are miserable, too.

Bear with us, we apologize and thank you.

Regards,
Jill
