Jim, New article on handset sales in US from GartnerGroup's Dataquest: gartner11.gartnerweb.com Excerpts: "Digital handsets accounted for 77.8 percent of U.S. mobile handset sales in the second quarter, while analog handsets totaled 22.2 percent of sales." "For example, Nokia's weak share in CDMA has prevented it from completely running away with the U.S. market" "Within the U.S. digital handset market, CDMA technology represented 47 percent of sales in the second quarter. Year-end 1998 results showed CDMA had 38 percent of the digital handset market. In 1998, time-division multiple access (TDMA IS 136) technology had 46 percent of digital handset sales, but in the second quarter of 1999, TDMA slipped to 39 percent of sales." - Eric -
