Newbridge Networks Selected To Supply And Install Network For
Nauchny Center In Moscow

Scalable, future-proof multiservices network to be used by major scientific, research and
manufacturing concern

KANATA, Ont., Nov. 11 /CNW-PRN/ - Newbridge Networks today announced it has been selected to supply and install a
comprehensive, end-to-end multiservices network to Nauchny Center, a major scientific, research and manufacturing
organization based in Zelenograd, near Moscow, in the Russian Federation. The estimated value of this contract is US$25
million.

The network will comprise a full range of Newbridge(R) products, including the 36120 MainStreet(R) Packet Transfer
Exchange frame relay system, the Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress(TM) 36170 Multiservices Switch, the VIVID(R)
switched routing solution, and access equipment from Newbridge subsidiary Advanced Computer Communications (ACC).
The entire network will be managed by the industry-leading Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress 46020 Network Manager.

The network will provide the Nauchny Center a full range of communications services, including voice/facsimile services, X.25,
frame relay, cell relay and international digital connectivity. It offers the flexibility and scalability to grow in size and range of
service offerings to meet the Nauchny Center's evolving needs.

''The nature of the collaborative scientific research conducted at this institution places enormous demand on the network in
carrying bandwidth-intensive, delay-sensitive multimedia traffic,'' said Dr. Yuri N. Dyakov, President of the Nauchny Center.
''It was essential that the network equipment be scalable, 'future-proof' in its ability to evolve to meet future applications and
traffic load, fully manageable and, of course, 'best-of-class'. The Newbridge solution fully met these requirements.''

''The Nauchny Center is a renowned scientific, research and manufacturing organization,'' said Constantin Loudiadis,
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific Region, Newbridge Networks. ''The networking requirements of
the Center were both extensive and rigorous. We are pleased to have been selected as the Center's strategic vendor and wish
to acknowledge the participation of Benol Corporation of Ottawa in securing this contract.''

The Concern Nauchny Center, located 18 miles from Moscow, is engaged in the development and manufacture of integrated
microcircuits, computers and peripherals, application-specific processes, control equipment and consumer electronics.
