A ceramics worker in Bat Trang, along the Red River in Vietnam. Increased energy and labor costs are making the ceramics more expensive for domestic customers and American buyers like Pier 1 Imports
When I was in VietfinNam, the commie showing us around took us to Bat Trang instead of the Hilton because the Hilton was too depressing, he said. So we stopped in front of the Hilton and took a couple snaps before crossing the Red River and then on to on top of the Levees to see some pots. I got a little peanut bowl from Phuc Tan at Bat Trang in VietFinNam.
They were growing a lot and the house prices, oh my, they was in the millions, and that was us dollars too.
Now this John McCain, he spent a considerable amount of time in the Hilton, which seems to have a profound affect on him even to this day.
Am I wrong to think this experience perhaps makes him less of a compassionate conservative than say, W?
What, for example, should another attack, God Forbid, it should happen again to us, which many of the experts say is bound to happen.
What if such an unfortunate circumstance should again occur?
Am I wrong to think there would be quite a difference between how a John McCain and an Obama would respond?
We know, now, in retrospect, how a compassionate conservative would handle such a situation. He would remove the Taliban, eliminate an Evil Tyrant, install Democracy, and build Infrastructure, train Police, giving a helping hand to other folks.
I have to assume than an Obama or a Hillary would do a mea culpea, seek forgiveness, have talks, maybe even invade Pakistan, even!
What would a John McCain do? Given his temper, and his disdain for the "Code Pink" crowd, what would he do? He doesn't have a Father who was wronged, he's got a 94 year old Mother who seems able to take care of herself.
Am I wrong to think he might just stop reading to the children about the Goat, get out of his chair, and maybe drop the Big One on somebody, maybe The Goat Himself?
PS When I was in VietFinNam, the wife of one of the veterans, said she thought we should have done a "LeMay" on them. I responded: "Oh, you don't really mean that!" |
