I just successfully downloaded and installed both Windows Media Player 6.1 and DirectX Media 6.0 Runtime. This was my third attempt. Right after I got the second one installed, there was a patch for it. Downloaded it ok also.

When I went back to the download page, under download history, it said all three were installed. But like you said, it shows that Windows Media Player isn't installed. I went to Media player and checked to see what version was installed. It was 6.1. Don't understand why it won't show up as installed.
