I agree that ol' Warren investing in Iomega is unrealistic. I wouldn't have answered if I had read ahead and saw that someone essentially already said the same thing as I posted.

But my point was that Iomega is more a consumer products company than a high tech company. They rely on high tech to make their products better and cheaper than their competitors. I'm sure that the Washington Post relies on some spiffy printing technology to trim the last 1/4 of a cent from the printing of their newspaper. But this isn't why you (or Buffet) would invest in the Washington Post.

I agree that Iomega's valuation is pretty good, especially if growth is what is expected. Iomega is definately a growth stock, not a value stock, and for Buffet to invest in IOM goes beyond his shyness from technology to a 180 degree turnaround from his investment style.
