Nortel Networks (NT) 15.32 -0.28 (-1.8%): -- Update -- Merrill Lynch raises risk rating on stock; notes that liquidity speculation in the telecom sector has recently turned to Nortel; after burning through $1.2 bln in cash last qtr, Merrill sees company using another $700-$800 mln in cash in Q2 and about $300-$400 mln in Q3; believes cash balances could dip to a few hundred million before company begins generating cash again in Q4; only sees cash position becoming a bigger problem if current weak market conditions continue well into 2002.
