tb, I can see it coming now! Globalstar will once again copycat Iridium despite having all along said they will learn from the mistakes. Globalstar [apart from the system construction] seems to have had a total lack of imagination all along.

What a shame. What a waste.

Iridium is pathetic, thinking they are doing well because they are covering their costs and a bit.

Globalstar will do the same is my guess. They'll charge too much money and get few customers, but think they are doing well because they are making money on an almost zero cost asset. What a waste.

Here's the graph showing that maximum income is achieved around 15c a minute because revenue per subscriber is almost maximized but rate of subscriber sign-ups is maximized. Profit is a function of both.

When the system is getting full, the price per minute would be increased to 50c a minute and even 70c a minute at which time the next constellation should be brought on stream and the prices reduced again to about 30c a minute to boost demand.

Let's hope the NewGlobalstar people can understand what a graph like that means. I think they are probably lawyers whose brains go blank when they see anything remotely resembling maths or physics. They have no concept of consumer surplus and marketing. They might be able to chant some cliches, slogans and learn some factgs by rote, but don't have an intuitive grasp of what makes things tick. They see the world as one of perception rather than objective reality. [Which of course raises a very fun discussion of perception versus reality and which creates the other.]

Actually, I notice now that the graph got misaligned when it went from "edit" to being posted so the xxxxx and numbers at the ends don't match. I'll have to redo it!
