Most photography for magazines such as Gourmet is done with conventional film in order to get the maximum detail and color

That too will change. National Geographic has now published its first photo story taken entirely with digital equipment. The editor and photographer raved in a public presentation about the changes in decision-making processes that were enabled by the ability of the two of them to look at the same photographs at the same time while the photographer was still on assignment on the opposite side of the world.
